Snatched For The Gods

This shoot came about after I did the second part of Lumbersexual Homosexual
and thought to myself, I haven't gone and done a full fledged make up shoot yet.

As I was gearing up for the shoot though I realised I had another concept in mind
and it wouldn't fit in with the current look I was creating on my face, so I
incorporatedit into the shoot as a foretelling of a shoot to follow called 'Egypsyian',
which in it self will draw inspiration from two completely different worlds.
But more of that as we cross that bridge.

Earlier in the day before the shoot I posted a tweet that I am preparing
myself for the RuPaul's Drag Race Season 12 cycle, and afterwards asked myself,
"why wait so long? I might not be cast until then (if we should be so lucky for
Drag Race to span out that long),
but why not prove to myself now that I can beat my face like real drag queen."

So it was only fitting to call this shoot Snatched For The Gods by the legendary
RuPaul from his sophmore album Foxy Lady (Available on iTunes).
I was feeling the fantasy,
and I was living the radio mama,
so you best beweave I am coming for you hunty ;D

A Little Note...

Just wanted to let you guys in on some changes in my life.
My posts/ shoots might be less than usual from now on as I am
transitioning into a new phase of my life: as a Fashion Design student.

For the next 3 years I will be living out my dream of learning and understand
fashion design and creating my own clothes, etc. My shoots might be few
and far between as my living situation at the moment is not 100% ideal yet,
but I cannot say what the foreseeable future might hold.

I am looking forward to this new journey in my life, and soon I will
be able to bring new, fresh and unique ideas to the table in terms of my
shoot's wardrobe.

Peace out ;D

Geek Chic

This shoot took an unexpected turn, and would of
been another theme all together had it not been for my
cousin Cindy, who bought these retro sunglasses for me,
and the theme Geek Chic was born.

Then, in mid shoot, I realised/decided to add some intellectual
reading into the shoot and thought of using one of my mom's
books in psychology. Standing in front of her book shelf though, instead,
my eye caught two books in particular, both theses, both by two
phenomenal women in my life. One by my mother, Cecilia
and the other by my oldest cousin Brigitte.

This shoot is a dedication to these three phenomenal women.
I give you Geek Chic.

Androgyny: People Like Us

Androgyny, taken from wikipedia:

"Androgyny is the combination of masculine and feminine characteristics. Sexual ambiguity may be found in fashiongender identity, sexual identity, or sexual lifestyle.
For humans, androgyne (/ˈændrən/ an-drə-jyn) in terms of gender identity is a person who does not fit neatly into the typical masculine and feminine gender roles of their society. Androgynes may also use the term "ambigender" or "polygender" to describe themselves. Many androgynes identify as being mentally between woman and man, or as entirely genderless. They may identify as "non-gender", "gender-neutral", "agender", "between genders", "genderqueer", "multigender", "intergendered", "pangender" or "gender fluid"

This is the many faces of what defines Gender Bending. How society
sees gender bending differs, which in itself seems like an oxymoron of sorts,

I challenge these norms as much as possible,  not just because of social
prejudice and ignorance, but also on a personal level; to
accept a sense of acceptance of what and who I am
regardless of what society views or deem as the norm,
because femininity is not limited to the female gender as
much as masculinity is limited to the male gender. There is a world
to explore between the two worlds, and that's where I start...

Fa La La [Christmas Wonderland]

I have taught myself everything I know about photography, every shoot was
a lesson of sorts. I have never claimed to be professional in what I do in any
way, and I still learn each and every day with each photo shoot I do [I still shoot
in AUTO ffs! lol].

This shoot is a testament to that. I have never done a shoot with so many
background props and I did not feel confident that it would turn out good, but
I proved myself wrong. And that's how I learn; I try to prove myself wrong.

Here is the much promised 'Fa La La [Christmas Wonderland]', the Christmas
themed photoshoot. There were a lot more I wanted to added to the props, but I felt
I'd never do it if I didn't just do it with the props I had.
