We Can Do It (Pride)

A new shoot! I know right, I'm shocked myself, but
it was damn long over due, and it felt great to take photos
again!

With June being Pride month, I wanted this shoot to represent
my pride in not just my sexuality, but also personally. Taking
direct inspiration from the 'Rosie the Riveter' poster, which was
initially created to boost worker morale in 1943, this iconic photo
went on to represent feminism in the 80's as well as other political
issues at the time.

For me, and I believe for many of my gay peers, this
represents so much of our culture as well, and although
this probably had nothing to do with gay rights, personally this
represents our continuous battle for acceptance, for equality.
That we will always fight for what we believe in, for what
we are proud of.

And so, this is my take on this iconic piece of history:

These Are The Special Times

"In these moments, moments of our lives
All the world is ours and this world is so right
You and I sharing this time together

Sharing the same dream as time goes by, we will find
These are the special times, times we'll remember
These are the precious times
The tender times, we'll hold in our hearts forever
These are the sweetest times, these times together
And through it all one thing will always be true
The special times are the times I share with you
"

With Christmas around the corner, I wanted to do a shoot that
reflects not only the spirit of Christmas but also portray a softer
and more mature side of myself, perhaps even more vulnerable in
a sense.

Geek Chic

This shoot took an unexpected turn, and would of
been another theme all together had it not been for my
cousin Cindy, who bought these retro sunglasses for me,
and the theme Geek Chic was born.

Then, in mid shoot, I realised/decided to add some intellectual
reading into the shoot and thought of using one of my mom's
books in psychology. Standing in front of her book shelf though, instead,
my eye caught two books in particular, both theses, both by two
phenomenal women in my life. One by my mother, Cecilia
and the other by my oldest cousin Brigitte.

This shoot is a dedication to these three phenomenal women.
I give you Geek Chic.

Channeling

I came up with the name as I was doing the #shotophoot,
listening to drag music. As soon as I done my blush, I
screamed out loud, "I am giving you Ongina, I am giving you
Manila Luzon, I am giving you Alyssa Edwards, I am giving you
Jinkx Monsoon, I am giving you Latrice Royale, I am giving Nina
Flowers, I am giving you Pandora Boxx..." And then it hit me..
"I am giving you Dorian Kyle!"
